The Urgency Room – you may have seen an advertisement or heard the name from a friend. But what is The Urgency Room? Is it the same thing as urgent care?

The Urgency Room is a medical care provider for patients with urgent and emergent health concerns. We provide expert level care from board-certified emergency providers and staff. On paper, it may seem like The Urgency Room is similar to an urgent care, but the expertise and capabilities cover so much more.

This post will cover the basics about both The Urgency Room and typical urgent care centers so you can see the differences and similarities side-by-side and make an informed decision about your medical needs.

Expert Diagnosis and Treatment of Patient Symptoms

The ability to treat a wide range of symptoms is vital, especially in today’s age when a simple symptom could mean a complex condition. Concerns over the next potential COVID variant, for example, and the yearly return of influenza lead symptomatic patients to their nearest medical care facility. These facilities should be capable of adequately treating their guests.

What Does Urgent Care Treat?

While not every urgent care center is the same as the next, most of these facilities can treat basic non-life-threatening conditions like:

  • Burns and cuts
  • Allergic reactions
  • Strep throat, colds, influenza
  • Sinus problems
  • Ear and eye infections
  • Mild falls, sprains and some broken bones

You’ll want to ensure that the urgent care center you’re considering is capable of treating your symptoms before attending. If you end up at a small urgent care location, you may find yourself being transferred to a more capable facility and thereby extending your medical visit and losing time.

What Does Urgency Room Treat?

The Urgency Room offers treatment for the same conditions as urgent care centers plus conditions requiring more involved attention.

Online Care:

The Urgency Room can treat many of the minor conditions listed above both in-person OR online. Patients can have many of their urgent care concerns addressed from the convenience of their home. The same emergency-trained providers are providing the same great care -from home. If you need to be tested (strep, COVID, UTI) you will be instructed to visit one of our facilities in person for the test only. Once the testing is complete, there is no need to wait, we’ll let you know as soon as your results are available.

What if you need more than online care or urgent care? The Urgency Room has you covered.

Conditions treatable at The Urgency Room may include:

  • COVID symptoms

  • Kidney stones

One of the reasons The Urgency Room is capable of treating such a wide range of symptoms and conditions is due to the onsite diagnostics and equipment available at each site. Read on for more information.

Diagnostic Devices & Lab Tests

What is a diagnostic device? A diagnostic device is a medical device that helps medical providers identify the cause or nature of a symptom, ideally leading to an official diagnosis of the patient’s condition. Access to diagnostic medical devices is key to performing a thorough diagnosis and treatment.

Typical Urgent Care Diagnostics

While some urgent care facilities provide onsite access to exceptional diagnostic devices, many will instead transfer non-emergency patients requiring certain diagnostics to other campuses within their network. The typical diagnostics available at an urgent care center include basic labs and possibly x-rays.

Urgency Room Diagnostics

The Urgency Room, on the other hand, offers medical diagnostics quickly and accurately. In addition to complex lab testing capabilities, diagnostics at The Urgency Room include: a CT scanner, ultrasound and x-ray imaging.

Value for Your Time & Care

Is Urgent Care Cheaper Than the E.R.? Both urgent care facilities and The Urgency Room are more affordable than going to the emergency room.

Insurance Information

The Urgency Room accepts most health insurance plans while we can’t speak for your local urgent care facility. Check with your insurance provider to see if we’re in your network.
