Immediate Care: Expertise When You Need It Most

The Urgency Room is here to provide the help you need when you need care right away.

We’re staffed by emergency providers who can treat serious concerns FAST.

Example Immediate Care Concerns:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Chest Pain, Palpitations, Tightness or Pressure
  • Concussion/Head Injury
  • Broken Bones

Those with immediate concerns should go directly to the front desk for evaluation.  For most other health concerns, scheduled care is best.

How to Know If You Need Immediate Care

Choosing the right type of care leads to the best experience for everyone. Our goal is to help you decide if you need immediate medical attention, a scheduled visit, or convenient online care – so you’ll receive the right care at the right time.

  • 1

Evaluate the Urgency of Your Symptoms

Immediate Care: Immediate care is for symptoms and concerns that need immediate attention and cannot wait for care. Please note that if you are experiencing a medical emergency such as trauma, severe bleeding, or stroke symptoms, call 911.

Scheduled Care: If your concern can wait a few hours or until later that day, same-day scheduling allows you to receive care at a set time that fits your schedule.

Online Care: Online care is best for mild concerns. From sinus infections to seasonal allergies, online visits are an affordable and accessible way to connect with a provider.

Consider the Nature of Your Symptoms

Immediate Care: Immediate care is ideal for unexpected or sudden issues like chest pain, abdominal pain, or possible broken bones that need prompt attention but do not require emergency medical care.

Scheduled Care: For ongoing or less severe symptoms, like mild back pain, allergies, or cold concerns, scheduling an appointment allows you to plan your visit around your day.

Online Care: For mild concerns like strep throat, colds, flu, sinus congestion, and other similar issues, online care is a fast and more affordable way to get care. You can see a provider online and come into the clinic for any necessary testing.

Assess if Your Condition Is Life-Threatening

Emergency Care: For any life-threatening symptoms – such as trauma, heavy bleeding, or signs of stroke – go to the emergency room or call 911 immediately.

The Urgency Room is designed as a safe and effective choice for serious but non-life-threatening conditions. Our goal is to provide expert care from emergency-trained teams in a warm, welcoming facility.  We’re generally faster and more affordable than a similar visit to a hospital emergency room.

Think About Convenience and Wait Time

Immediate Care: If your symptoms require immediate attention and you need to be seen right away but can’t wait for an appointment, our walk-in clinic offers quick access without an appointment. Our streamlined intake process means patients are often seen faster than at a busy hospital ER.

Scheduled Care: Setting an appointment will reduce your waiting time. Same-day scheduled care allows you to pick a time that works best for you. This is especially helpful if you know you’ll need care later in the day but want to plan ahead.

Online Care: No appointment is necessary for online care. Simply log in to see one of our providers any time from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. This flexibility gives you peace of mind knowing help is available from morning through evening, even if you can’t make it to one of our clinics right away.

Immediate Care Concerns

The following are examples of concerns that are well-suited for immediate care:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Chest Pain, Palpitations, Tightness or Pressure
  • Concussion/Head Injury
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Lacerations
  • Loss of Consciousness/Fainting
  • Possible Blood Clot
  • Possible Broken Bones
  • Severe Allergic Reaction with Rapid Onset of Symptoms
  • Shortness of Breath

In addition, our providers frequently treat kidney stones, dehydration requiring IV fluids, sudden dizziness, and infections that need urgent antibiotics. Our clinics offer on-site imaging and labs, allowing for X-rays, CT scans, and blood work to be performed right here.

Upon arrival, a triage nurse will assess your symptoms and determine the next steps. The most urgent cases are seen first. Others move through a steady, smooth process. You’ll feel confident you’re in the right place, getting the right care at the right time.

Immediate Care Locations

Each of our four clinics across the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area is staffed by emergency-trained physicians and advanced practice providers. Every clinic is designed to deliver urgent medical services in a modern, accessible environment. Come in today at the location nearest you.

Clinic or Provider Referrals

If you were referred to The Urgency Room from another provider or medical facility you do not need an appointment.  Let the front desk know who referred you to us when you arrive and we will get you back to a room as quickly as possible.

Because we partner with clinics and hospitals throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul, we serve as a trusted referral point for patients who need more advanced care than a standard urgent care can provide. After your visit, we send a detailed report to your referring provider to support smooth follow-up and continuity of care.
